#4: List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.
1) You don't have to know what you want to do with your life yet. You've got your whole life to figure that out, so just enjoy living it.
2) Any relationship that doesn't build you up isn't worth your time.
3) Don't ever choose to find your identity in anyone other than Christ. Everyone else will let you down in one way or another. And when they do, you'll be left not knowing who the heck you are.
4) Spend way more time with your friends. You'll miss them when they're gone.
5) This will sound cliché... but don't care about what other people think of you. Seriously, just don't.
6) Don't drop chemistry! You'll need it later on in life...
7) Don't let anyone hinder you from pursuing your dreams.
8) Dream. If your dreams don't scare the crap outta you, they're not big enough!
9) Every single person that you will ever lay eyes on is immensely valuable to God. So treat them that way.
10) Learn to budget your money well. It really is a valuable skill that you'll need after high school.

#3: Parents
#3: Describe your relationship with your parents.
I don't really know what to say. I think my relationship with my parents is good. I love them both very much. I believe that I'm close with both of them, but I think I'm closer with my dad because we're so similiar and in the last year we've spent more time together than usual. I'm pretty sure that both my parents know pretty much everything about me, I feel like I can talk to them about stuff. Our relationship has definitely improved since I graduated from high school and after I "moved out". I don't really know what else to say.

Excitements
There has been a lot going on lately. It feels like Christmas was a lifetime ago, yet I still have one more Christmas party to attend. I can't believe that it's only January 19th. I feel like it should be past Valentine's Day already. So here are some things that I'm excited about:
1) I've decided to cut my hair short. I mean, like way short. Not a boy cut... I got that in the 3rd grade and I hated it. But above the shoulder. The reasons, you might ask? I think it's time for a change. I've haven't cut more than a couple inches off of my hair since the 3rd grade. I've had long wavy hair for a long time and it's time for a change. Also, I've decided to send in my hair to Locks of Love. I'm going to donate it. For the past couple months I've been struggling out here trying to find some way to make a difference in the world (aside from serving at Cedarwood) and frankly, buying charity merchandise isn't cutting it anymore (not to mention my bank account isn't happy with it either). So there. I'm excited about this, and no one's gonna take that away from me.
2) I'm taking a trip out to Capernwray in April to visit. I'm so freakin' excited about it. I miss that place so much sometimes it hurts. I know there won't be the same people out there this time, but there's a few that I'm excited to see. Like my roommate, Yemima! The only thing I have left to do is book the flights and tell 'em when I'm coming!
3) I'm going to university this fall. I've finally decided what I want to go to university for, so I'm gonna go for it. There's lots of details surrounding this that will remain unknown until I start in September, but I've been slowly fleshing out the details. Like, for my second year, I wish to go to a different university and take my program there instead of at the U of M, because this particular university has a better program. I've already been in contact with the faculty at this other university and it looks promising. So I'm excited to go back to school. I honestly miss it. I miss learning stuff.
So that is what has been going on in my thoughts.

#2: 3 Legitimate Fears
I've been learning about procrastination this week. Honestly, I've been procrastinating with blogpost... partly because I didn't know what to say and partly because I didn't know to say what I needed to say. If that makes sense. So I thought today would be just as good of a time as any to post my next musing linked to the 30 things challenge, seeing as I magicly got the weekend of because of this ridiculous snowstorm that happened. All 3 of our groups cancelled.
Here we go... (try to say that in the Joker's voice)
3 Legitimate Fears I Have:
1) Fear of dying having lived a meaningless life
I know what you're thinking: strange fear to have. I think everyone has it to some degree. At the end of my life I want to know that my short little wisp-of-air life meant something in the world. I don't want to live a life that has no meaning. How did this fear develop, you might ask? I can't put my finger on what it was exactly, but it probably has to do with how easily inspired I seem to be. I know that this fear started to develop when I was in the 12th grade. I want to make a difference in this world, even if it's as small as buying TOMS shoes and Sevenly clothing.
2) Fear of becoming mentally ill
Clinical depression, manic depressive, anxiety disorders,etc... Strange fear, I know. How did this fear develop, you might ask? Mental illnesses seem to run in my family line. I fear becoming so mentally ill that I am dependent on drugs and can no longer enjoy life to its fullest. Silly, but true.
3) Fear of heights
I know what you're thinking: really? Heights? Is that legitimate? Yes. I read somewhere that every human is born with a fear of heights, but most overcome it early on in their life. So I guess that's how I developed it, couldn't think of any other explanation. And this summer I definitely learned that this fear is a legitimate one... I taught rock climbing, which meant I climbed more than I normally do. I had to re-overcome my fear of heights every time I went up the wall! It just wouldn't go away!
So there you have to.
To end on a positive note, here are some fears I've overcome in my life:
1) Fear of flying in airplanes
2) Fear of the dark
3) Fear of death
4) Fear of people missing limbs (yes I know, don't judge, I've overcome it)
Here we go... (try to say that in the Joker's voice)

#1: 20 Random Things
#1: List 20 random things about yourself.
1) Despite what other people think they know, Mumford & Sons is actually my favourite musical group. I like them 'cause they're different and if you actually pay attention to their lyrics, they are extremely profound.
2) I don't like pizza. I know, kill me. *rolls eyes*
3) Even though it's ended now, House will always be my all-time favourite TV show.
4) Growing up scares me so much, but not growing up scares me more.
5) I hate water. I only drink it because I have to.
6) Until I was in grade 4, I never wore jeans. I only wore tights to school. Then when my aunt got me my first pair of jeans, I didn't take them off for a week.
7) I don't crush on guys very easily. Before this summer, the last time I crushed on a guy was in the middle of grade 12. That's a 1 1/2 year difference between the two.
8) When I'm so sick that I can't leave my house, I always watch either the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy or all the Anne of Green Gables movies.
9) Even though I'm a Christian, I don't like Christian music. I find it all sounds the same and it's very cliché. The only Christian artists that I genuinely like are Needtobreathe, Skillet, Relient K, and Lecrae.
10) I wish I grew up in a small town so that I could relate to a majority of the country music out there.
11) My favourite subjects in high school were biology and psychology. I'm fascinated by anything that has to do with the human body. It's so complex and wonderful. There's no possible way that we could understand everything about it. In high school, I realized that that's why I believe in God... there's no freakin' way that evolution could create something so amazingly complex!
12) Capernwray Quebec was the first and only bible school I ever considered going to.
13) I love doing puzzles. I really suck at them, but it's an amazing stress-reliever for me.
14) I used to write alot, but I've had writer's block for the last year and a half.
15) I've been a Christian for 15 years of my life now and I still have not read through the entire bible... even after bible school. I should really get to doing that.
16) I've never had a job that wasn't in a kitchen.
17) I collect stuffed penguins. I have 7 of them. 2 big (Spencer and Zipporah), 4 little (Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and Luke), and 1 hand-made (Pedro). I named Spencer after Spencer Reid from the TV Show Criminal Minds, Pedro after the character in Napoleon Dynamite, and Luke after the guy who caused me to fall in love with my favourite movie. I take Spencer everywhere with me. He came with me to summer camp, to Capernwray, and to Cedarwood.
18) In need of an explanation from my last one, my all-time favourite movie is The Princess Bride. I first fell in love with it when my high school did a remake of it in a play when I was in grade 10 and it was awesome!
19) Everyone knows this about me already, but I have to include it. I really want to marry Adam Young. He's just so fantastic.
20) I am absolutely horrible with staying in touch with people. From high school, I only intentionally stayed in touch with 4 people (and by "in touch" I mean, I text them and/or see them at least once a month). (Keep in mind that this does not include the people that I go to church with. It was so easy to stay in touch with them because I automatically see them once a week.)

The Year of Independence
Well, another year has come and gone. 2012 is out and 2013 is in. I have to admit, 2012 was a pretty great year. But 2013 is gonna be better.
Here's something pretty random about me that you probably didn't know about me: I name my years in January. I've done that for the last few years. 2010 was the year of finding God. 2011 was supposed to be the year of restoration, but it turned out to be the year of new beginnings. And 2012 was the year of restoration. I've decided to name the year of 2013 as the year of independence.
This year, I'm determined to figure out who I actually am. Many people who know me seem to think that I'm pretty comfortable with who I am and where I am in life, but the truth is... I don't have a clue. I'm 19 years old and I'm still learning things about myself. I still surprise myself with some of the things I feel. So I want to spend this year figuring out who I am. Who I am as a person, who I am as a woman, who I am as a Christian, who I am in the world. It's gonna be an interesting year...
Today, one of my friends Courtney started a "30 Things" series on her blog. Basically, it's just 30 random questions that you answer in 30 blog posts. I thought it was a really good idea because it fit into the theme of this year and because lately I've been lacking in the knowing-what-to-blog department. So I'm going to do it too! You're supposed to do it in 30 days, but I won't be posting every day for 30 days. I think I'm going to try to answer two questions per week.
So here are the questions I'll be answering in the next few months:
1. List 20 random things about yourself.
2. Describe 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears.
3. Describe your relationship with your parents.
4. List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.
5. What are the 5 things that make you most happy right now?
6. What's the hardest thing you have ever experienced?
7. What is your dream job, and why?
8. What are 5 passions you have?
9. List 10 people who have influenced you and describe how.
10. Describe your most embarrassing moment.
11. Describe 10 pet peeves you have
12. Describe a typical day in your current life.
13. Describe 5 weaknesses you have.
14. Describe 5 strengths you have.
15. If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
16. What are your 5 greatest accomplishments?
17. What is the thing you most wish you were great at?
18. What has been the most difficult thing you have had to forgive?
19. If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?
20. Describe 3 significant memories from your childhood.
21. If you could have one superpower, what would it be and what would you do with it first?
22. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?
23. List your top 5 hobbies and why you love them.
24. Describe the 3 best books you've ever read and what you like about them.
25. If you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be and what would you eat?
26. What popular notion do you think the world has most wrong?
27. What is your favorite part of your body and why?
28. What is your love language?
29. What do you think people misunderstand most about you?
30. List 10 things you would hope to be remembered for.
